Schools
Avery County NC Schools, Ashe County NC Schools
and Watauga County NC Schools in the High Country region of
Western North Carolina are known for being
excellent schools, many of which are housed
in new facilities and receive the "School of
Excellence and Distinction" awards during
school report card times.
The Avery County school system stays
connected with parents and the community and
has wonderful, well-educated teachers, many
of which hold master"s degrees in their
pertinent areas. The Ashe County school
system is also excellent and the newly built
Ashe County high school is a wonderful new
structure with state of the art technology.
The Watauga County school system, like the
Avery and Ashe systems is also small,
however this allows for the schools to
maintain close ties with students, families,
and members of the community. The academic
programs of these county systems are
excellent, and year after year our high
school students perform well on the SAT test
and other standardized tests given to
students. In relation to the rest of the
state and country, our scores are above
average in almost every level.
In addition to the public county schools,
there are also several private schools in
the area, and parents are encouraged to
learn more about these schools and their
facilities and programs.
In Western North Carolina, there are several
community colleges for continuing education,
and the area is also home to Appalachian
State University, located in Boone, and
Lees-McRae College, which is located in
Banner Elk. Having two award winning liberal
arts colleges in the area adds a bit of
flavor, and the areas of Boone and Banner
Elk have their own college town feel. Arts
and culture thrive on each of these campuses
and bring many different shows to the area.
Avery County NC Schools, Ashe County NC Schools
and Watauga County NC Schools are just one of the
many reasons why the mountains of North
Carolina is an excellent place to live and
raise a family. With wonderful schools, well
maintained neighborhoods, and great tax
rates, more and more people are moving to
the area. Contact us today for more
